Some of more interesting discussions we have with kids at The Mental Switch is around how they communicate with each other in a school environment, sporting activity or a play dates.
The one Constant Unconscious Challenge kids will face is the interpretation of the words they speak and the words they hear.
There are very few adults who can control the flow of words during a discussion because the time we spend thinking about how the words are interpreted by our listener is almost zero. This is due to the time we spend giving our brains the chance to think through what we say.
One can imagine then, how much time kids think about the words they speak.
The Mental Switch has a motto. Stop, Breathe, Think, Move, Speak .(in that order) This simple process gives us a little extra time to think through our responses and dialogue.
Breathing is the starting point. Just one big breath in is all it takes and by the time you get to a slight movement of your hands, (Move) I can almost guarantee that what comes out of your mouth and how it is interrupted will be to your benefit and your listener.
Try this and let me know how you go.
